At Barnes Professional Eye Care, we are pleased to offer a wide range of optometry services for our community! Our experienced optometrists can provide you with thorough eye evaluations, determine if you need corrective lenses and your exact prescription strength, fit you with the appropriate specialty eyewear, and help you pick out the most flattering pair of glasses for your face shape and skin tone.

Primary Eye Care
Preventative Eye Care includes a comprehensive vision and eye health examination. This examination is designed to detect a wide range of problems affecting vision function, such as blurred vision or eye discomfort, as well as eye health disorders such as glaucoma, early macular degeneration, diabetes, high blood pressure, and even neoplasms (abnormal growths). Many eye health issues do not present with a noticeable problem until significant damage is done. Having your dilated eye health exams on a yearly basis allows for early detection and intervention of eye disease and this can reduce your risk of permanent vision loss.
We practice to the highest level of care and support the recommendation by American Optometric Association that all people should have a comprehensive, dilated eye examination every one to two years depending on one’s age and particular needs.
Our doctors utilize the lastest technology to assist in your eye health evaluation. Digital equipment and advanced diagnostics are used to ensure the best visual acuity for prescriptions, monitoring of eye pressures, peripheral vision, retinal and macular health. Examinations include evaluation for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and the ocular effects of many general health disorders such as diabetes and high blood pressure, as well as effects of medications. A dilated pupil examination allows us to provide the best assessment of eye health. It is recommended for all new patients and on a scheduled basis thereafter.
With the aid of our diagnostic equipment, we are able to document your baseline eye health & obtain screening images to include retinal photography, visual fields testing, and corneal topography. This modern technology is used to monitor for changes associated with common eye health issues as well as monitor treatment effectiveness. All of our diagnostic equipment meets the gold standard set by evidenced-based medical research for diagnosing, monitoring, and managing common eye health disorders – glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic changes, cataracts, corneal dystrophies, keratoconus, as well as ulcers and infections.
We carry the latest contact lens brands and also specialize in Ortho-K and Scleral Lenses.
At Barnes Professional Eye Care, you can be sure we will continue to invest in your health through ongoing education, use of advanced technology, and evidence-based research to care for you and your family.
Our Technology
OCT (Zeiss Optical Coherence Tomographer)
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive diagnostic instrument used for imaging the retina. This piece of equipment allows doctors to see a cross section or 3D image of the retina and detect the early onset of a variety of eye conditions.
Icare tonometer (no “air puff” glaucoma test)
Our office uses an instrument called the Icare Tonometer for measuring Intra Ocular Pressure (IOP) that allows us to know the pressure in the eye and monitor it for glaucoma patients.
Retinal Imaging (Zeiss Visucam Pro)
This equipment allows us to take a detailed picture of your retina to help diagnose a variety of eye diseases.
Auto-ref/ Auto-k Topcon KR-8000PA
During our eye examinations we use this computer controlled machine to provide an objective measurement of a person’s refractive error and prescription for glasses or contact lenses. This is accomplished by looking at how light is changed as it enters a person’s eye and measuring it.
Humphrey Matrix Screening Visual Field and Zeiss Humphrey Visual Field machine
Our visual field testing equipment measures the central and peripheral vision and helps the doctor to diagnose and monitor certain eye diseases.
Zeiss Atlas Topographer
We use this instrument as a diagnostic tool that measures the curvature of the cornea and produces topographical images
